the calm before the storm

I love candid photography, I love the way people interact without knowing someone takes their picture. How natural their body language is. This kind of photograph always give so much too see, it makes you wonder what these people are thinking about? what are they dealing with? but not too much so that you can still make your own interpretation of the image. And that's what makes illustration works for me, illustration that doesn't just give away all the details but instead give enough information to trigger the imagination. I applied all of that in this artwork. This is about a scene of a young robot pilot with her crew preparing for battle. I wanted to depict the intense atmosphere of the preparation, the calm before the storm.
